We are the only lodge in Cuyabeno managed and operated by people from the community, all our staff is from the area and one of our co‐founders comes from the Siona nationality. We seek that our clients have a different experience and can learn more about the Amazon with our customs, traditions, food, and more.

Carlos Payoguaje

My name is Carlos Payoguaje, I was born in my own ancestral Siona territory, in the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon. I love the flora and fauna, I consider them as part of my family, since I grew up with them, I started working with tourists at a very young age until now that I am a local guide, the Siona nationality is dedicated to eco-tourism, because we want to protect in natural state to our territory, which is 130,990 hectares, so that our children, grandchildren, etc. can enjoy it.

For that reason, me and my family were looking for a way to have our own eco-lodge, the idea started in 2015 and until 2019, after much effort, we made it together with two friends, Gilver and Diego. Today we thank God, since we can show the whole world our region, our culture and with this protect our home, our jungle and give our children a better life. I coordinate the river transport and I am a guide at Tucan lodge.

Gilver Carreño Suárez

My name is Gilver Carreño Suárez. I was born and raised in the Ecuadorian Amazon jungle on the edge of the Cuyabo fauna production reserve. In 2002, when I was a 15-‐year-‐old high school ecotourism student, I had the opportunity to start doing tours as a tour guide and every day to appreciate, enjoy and learn from the magic of the jungle.

As a guide I learned to interpret and show tourists the wonders of the Amazon and encourage them to conserve our natural paradise. In 2019 we decided to start our own eco-‐lodge “Cuyabeno Tucan Lodge”, where we carry out nature, conservation activities and especially share with our clients the passion we have for our jungle, seeking tha tour visitors have connection with nature, enjoy and discover the magic of the Ecuadorian Amazon. I am the manager and guide of the lodge.

Diego Morales

I am Diego Morales. I was born in the cloud forest of the Ecuadorian Andes. From a very young age I worked in tourism, then I went to university in Quito where I studied national tourism guide. I have been working as a guide in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Colombia for more than 11 years.

I visited Cuyabeno for the first time in 2012 and I fell in love with the fauna, flora and the connection with nature, since then I have guided in the Cuyabeno reserve where I met Gilver and Carlos and with them we decided to start our own eco-lodge in 2019.

Since we have a lot of experience in Tourism and as guides we know very well the place where we work, every detail that is needed for the visitor to have an unforgettable experience. I organize the operation and sales of the lodge.
